"Shaman's Vision Journey"
by David & Steve Gordon
Primal rhythms and Native flutes once again intertwine in the percussive panoramas of David and Steve Gordon. Crystal bowls, uncommon for a Native American-based percussive album, are used with great effect in the music, adding a mystical glow to it. Subtle ancient chants (Tibetan, Sanskrit, Aboriginal & Lakota) and Indian drone instruments provide additional Eastern influence in the music, and make an intuitive counterpoint to the haunting Native American flute. The most striking thing about the album is the rhythms, which are rich, earthy and invigorating.

"Sound Medicine Man"
by Tim Wheater
Recorded in the Colorado Mountains, SOUND MEDICINE MAN is a stirring album of Native American music themed after the path of the shaman. The Native American flute is the chief instrument with a backdrop of mild synthesizer orchestration, vocal sounds, piano on a few tracks and low, ceremonial-sounding drum beats. Wheater has crafted a soundscape that is vast and spacious with a tinge of melancholy. At the same time, the music also feels spiritual and ancient, like you're traveling back to another time and place.

"Wind of the North"
by Peter Kater
Peter Kater and the organic sounds of Sacred Earth return with the second entry in their "Wind" series. This time around, the winds are blowing from the north, bringing with them a selection of music that is earthy, wintry in theme and full of rich, layered instrumentation from some of the most talented artists in the genre. All of the songs, particularly the opening "Buffalo Song" and "Honoring the North," have strong melodies that make wonderful use of Kevin Locke's bittersweet Native American flute playing.

"Sacred Spirit II"
by
A brisk wind blows, carrying whispers of the past and future; timeless voices appear then fade away into the hauntingly atmospheric backdrops of this CD. This follow-up to 1995's hugely successful SACRED SPIRIT is a reflective, through-provoking exploration of Native American cultural heritage. Natural sounds and ceremonial chants highlight an environment filled with drums and flutes all blending with sounds of the Western world like piano, violin and a deeply synthesized ambience.
