Sage smudging is an ancient Native American tool for cleansing a space, object, person, or really just about anything. White Sage is most commonly used as it has the most pleasing scent.
HOW TO BURN IT
The directions are simple; think of it as a giant stick of incense. Simply pull back string (if any) and light the leaf tips with a candle, match, or lighter. Allow it to burn for a few seconds, the blow it out. The edged of the leave should glow softly and release a fragrant smoke. Holding it over an abalone shell (traditional) or plate to catch any falling embers, waft the smoke over the object to be cleased, say a prayer or incantation if you feel you need to. When cleansing a room be sure your doors and windows are open to allow any bad energies to escape, and always start in the center and work your way out. Don't for get the corners!
